CUSTOMER RESEARCH

Find businesses that fit your offer.

Relay Outreach turns your target customer profile into a research workflow. Compare businesses against your criteria, inspect the evidence and look for the people most relevant to your service before preparing an introduction.

Start with a specific customer profile

Describe what you help customers achieve, then choose relevant industries, locations, company sizes and business activities. These criteria help narrow research to organisations where your offer makes sense. Focus on the work a business does and who would be responsible for the problem you solve.

For example, a consultancy could research engineering or manufacturing businesses in its service area and prioritise operations or quality roles. That is a research hypothesis, not a claim that those companies are currently buying consultancy. Review each company’s own website and the evidence attached to the result.

Understand why a company matches

Relay presents available company facts and match reasons so you can inspect a shortlist rather than rely only on a business name. Use the Google research links to investigate each business independently and confirm that its activities fit the offer.

A fit score describes how the available evidence relates to your saved profile. It does not establish purchase intent, budget, authority or a current requirement. If information is missing or outdated, refine the shortlist before spending more time finding contacts.

  • Check the business’s activities, location and size.
  • Look for a credible connection between your service and its work.
  • Exclude businesses that do not fit, even if an email address is available.

Find relevant people, not just more addresses

Connect Hunter for the company and contact data available to your account. After researching businesses, use Find key contacts to look for relevant people and work email addresses. Choose the roles that are likely to understand your offer, rather than treating every person at a company as a suitable recipient.

Company results and contact results are different. A search may find a company without a suitable named contact, or return a contact whose email still needs checking. Coverage, verification, provider credits and plan limits affect what can be saved. Relay cannot guarantee a key contact for every company.

Turn a researched shortlist into a campaign

Review saved contacts and resolve the readiness issues shown in your workspace. Check the address, role and company before enrolling the contact in an approved email sequence. Keep the introduction relevant to what you have actually verified.

If a provider reports a credit or account limit, address that limit in the provider account before continuing. Increasing a sending limit in Relay does not increase Hunter’s data allowance.

Common questions

Does Relay scrape Google for unlimited email addresses?

No. Google research links help you check a business independently. Company and contact discovery depends on supported connected data providers, their coverage and your account limits.

Why are there more companies than contacts?

Finding a company does not guarantee that a provider has a suitable person and usable work email address for it. Role filters, missing data, verification and credit limits can all reduce the contact count.

Are matching companies confirmed buyers?

No. Matching business activities and profile criteria help prioritise research. They do not prove a current need or predict a sale.
